Welcome to the 4th edition of Living Lightly.

This seems to be spiritually, and naturally, a time of great upheaval. It is times like this that practice really comes into its own. Practice is rarely of real benefit when everything is smooth. When problems occur it is more difficult to find a centred place to operate from, but it is more important to try to do so. It is easy to act from a spiritual perspective when times are good, but so valuable to do so when times are difficult.

Many thanks to Yvonne Phillips and to Dave & Karen Law for their photographs. If you have a poem or article you would like to see on the website, please get in touch.

Nature

I was very lucky this summer to have the opportunity, not only have the time for my spiritual practice, but also to be able to spend time working in and enjoying nature. This combination of spiritual practice and nature helped me to appreciate the beauty of the world we live in more deeply than ever before.

The Calming Breath

This is an ancient discipline of yoga; the effects are quick for an efficient technique to aid relaxation.

Start by breathing from the abdomen, inhale through the nose slowly. Count for five ....1.....2.....3.....4.....5 on the inhalation.

Pause and hold this breath for the count of five.

Integrating Insight

Insight produces a change of consciousness, perhaps a radical one, which necessarily includes a new way of seeing the world and ourselves. This new way of seeing may be a marvellous insight or change within ourselves that abruptly allows us to fulfil much more of our potential as magical beings or perhaps we have an instant cataclysmic flash of insight about ourselves and it really shakes us, stirs us or upsets us. It throws light into one of the dark, hidden places in our own being and we feel absolutely shattered. Or, if the realisation was one of joy, we feel incredibly high, completely out of this world, ecstatic beyond words, completely out of our minds. Now what?

Bringing the Formless into the Form

God as form, God as formless ,
Bringing the formless into the form ,
Appreciation of the form in its existence
as an expression of God ,
No matter, what the shape or nature of form
it is, intrinsically an expression of God.

Eagle

Like a bomb you drop, spiralling down
Plummeting to the ground
Fearless, merciless you hunt
Eyes shine, radar like, glinting
Trousered legs down, claws poised
Drop, drop, bang, no more

I Stand on Ground Anew

I stand on ground anew
Albeit with shaky gait
Reclining back, resting forward,
Shifting in my seat,
Compass of the heart
Where is my centre?
Middle ear,
Balance please,
A force so strong,
Is calling me

Heart of Light

Listen, as you breathe slowly,
Listen as you breathe deeply,
Listen to the murmurings of the heart’s Light.
Hear the sweet melodious voices of angelic choirs
Singing, praising your Soul as you journey
through the rainbow rivers and vessels of Light
within the oasis of your heart.

My Reiki Journey

Up, up, up above the clouds I soar
As each magic moment unfolds more & more,
Higher than a bird, towards the planes of Light & Sound

Your thought waves...

When you leave behind your selfish desires, your true mind comes to reflect itself in your daily words and actions. Since your true self is a radiant light, rooted in the divine, your words, actions and lifestyle begin to shine. However, since this radiant light is in a different category from that of the material world, its brilliance is not clearly perceived by most people. But I do think they can feel brightness, gentleness and warmth without knowing why.
